We dug deep into Paria's Archives and found and interesting publication from January 1977, recapping the beginning of the republican status of Trinidad and Tobago just three months before. It has many interesting articles and photos of the people of the day, focussing of course on Ellis Clarke (who dropped the "Sir" while occupying the Office of the President).

Paria Remembers HM the Queen's Visit to Trinidad in 1966
From 7–10 February 1966, H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, visited Trinidad and Tobago on her Caribbean Commonwealth tour. They were hosted here by Governor-General Sir Solomon Hochoy. Here are some photos of the occasion from the Reid Collection in our archives.
